QRL and QSport unite to celebrate women leading in sport

Queensland Rugby League, in association with QSport, recently hosted a special networking evening bringing together women from across South East Queensland who are leading the way in sport.

The event provided an inspiring platform for women representing a range of sporting codes, governance roles, and leadership positions to connect, collaborate, and share their experiences.

It also showcased the vital work being done within QRL to advance inclusion, participation, and leadership opportunities across community rugby league, pathways, coaching, and all abilities programs.

The evening’s discussions highlighted the power of connection in strengthening the sporting community and supporting the next generation of female leaders.

By creating spaces where women can share their journeys and insights, QRL and QSport continue to foster collaboration and growth across Queensland’s sporting landscape.

The panel included QRL Northern Region Manager Renae Kunst, QRL Pathways Coach Amy Bock, and QRL Operations Manager Jade Johnson, who each shared their unique experiences navigating leadership roles within rugby league and the broader sporting sector.

Their stories reflected not only the evolving opportunities for women in sport, but also the importance of representation in decision-making roles and on sporting boards, paving the way for lasting change.

The event also featured contributions from QRL Independent Director Sam Bliss, who introduced the session, as well as QRL office manager Charlotte Landers closing the evening out.

A big thank you also goes out to the broader Queensland Rugby League team and QRL director, Naomi McCarthy who facilitated the evening’s discussions.

By building on these relationships and continuing the conversation, QRL and QSport are helping shape a more inclusive and connected future for sport in the state.
