Queensland Rugby League has confirmed the women’s Under 19 Emerging squad selected to take part in this Sunday’s pre-camp in Brisbane.
The squad will join the Under 19 men for the planning day, bringing together Queensland’s next generation of emerging talent across both programs.
The session forms an important step within Origin pathways, designed to support young women as they progress toward professional rugby league and potential future representation at the highest level.
Players will take part in sessions focused on high-performance reparation, professionalism and personal development, providing clarity around the demands of elite rugby league.
The Emerging squad features players drawn from leading female rugby league programs across the state, including talent from the Souths Logan Magpies, Brisbane Tigers, Burleigh Bears, Ipswich Jets, Tweed Seagulls, Northern Pride, Redcliffe Dolphins and Townsville Blackhawks.
The squad is led by head coach Maia Tua-Davidson, with assistant coach Matt Sanders supporting the program.
Tua-Davidson expressed the importance and impact that these camps have on emerging talent.
“For me last year was setting some foundations and this year we hope to build on that,” Tua-Davidson said.
The group this year is really exciting with the largest number of returning players (from last year's Origin) of all the years I've been involved and some of the best young talent coming through the pathways.
Maia Tua-Davidson Women's Queensland U19s head coach
“It's a strong competitive squad of 30 who are hopefully going to rip in and claim a spot for the game in June.”
