The Ipswich Jets have kicked off their junior representative campaigns with four impressive performances against the Northern Pride.
With the North Ipswich Reserve undergoing a face lift, the Jets put on a show in their first club outing at Goodna’s Woogaroo Field.
In the Mal Meninga Cup (presented by Ford), five-eighth Tom Parker was on fire for the Jets with a hat-trick of tries.
Fullback Tyler Pereira got in on the act with a double, as the Jets raced to a commanding 34-4 lead at half-time.
Jets centre Baxter Best made an impact for Ipswich in the Cyril Connell Cup, with his powerful 22nd minute try handing the home team the ascendancy.
Ipswich led 16-0 at the break but were met by stiff resistance in the second half as Tyler Addo and Fynn Hawkins led the fightback for the visitors.
In the Harvey Norman Under 19s, the Northern Pride looked to have pulled one back on the Jets when they led 18-16 with less than a minute remaining.
However, the Jets pulled the game out of the fire after a penalty close to the line handed the home team another set of six, and a shift to left saw centre Mele Fifita cross for the match-winning try.
Jets forward Orianna Clark had earlier scored three tries for her team.
Ipswich also took the points in the Harvey Norman Under 17s clash with Noreenlupe Too crossing for two tries in the 38-18 win.
Burleigh Bears, Central Queensland Capras, Western Clydesdales, Redcliffe Dolphins, Townsville Blackhawks and the Souths Logan Magpies were the other weekend winners in the hotly contested 17s competition.
Emmilea Prior (Bears) and Charlotte McLean (Capras) scored hat-tricks for their respective teams.
In the Meninga Cup, Wynnum Manly head up the competition table after beating the Souths Logan Magpies 26-16.
The Norths Devils and Wynnum Manly lead the Connell Cup, while the Magpies are setting a cracking pace in the Harvey Norman Under 19s after beating Wynnum 48-4.
