Dolphins win again: Junior reps wrap

Redcliffe Dolphins are off to a flyer in the Mal Meninga Cup (presented by Ford) after notching their second-straight win.

An early attacking raid set the platform for the Dolphins in their round two clash against the Brisbane Tigers at Totally Workwear Stadium.

Tries from Redcliffe trio Amare Wynyard, Mereki Warradoo and Cody Starr inside the opening 12 minutes had the Tigers on the back foot.

Tigers centre Kairus Booth got one back for the Tigers in the 22nd minute, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Dolphins from going into the half-time break with a 12-point lead.

Further tries from James Grey, Kaleb Holmes and Adam McSherry allowed the Dolphins to wrap up an impressive 34-12 victory, a result that ensured a share of the competition lead with Wynnum Manly and Burleigh Bears.

Burleigh beat the Souths Logan Magpies 24-16 on the back of two tries from Seth Gundry, while Wynnum Manly went down to the Norths Devils by six points in a hard fought match.

In the other Meninga Cup games, Tweed beat Ipswich 26-22, Western Clydesdales defeated Central Queensland Capras 30-22 and the Sunshine Coast Falcons got the better of the Northern Pride 36-22.

Harvey Norman Under 19 games were won by Brisbane Tigers, Tweed Seagulls, Souths Logan, Wynnum Manly, Central Queensland and the Sunshine Coast Falcons.

Falcons fullback Aamira Renouf stamped herself as player to watch following her two tries in the Sunshine Coast’s 40-4 win over the Northern Pride.

In the Cyril Connell Cup, Wynnum Manly continue to set the pace following a 32-22 victory over the Norths Devils.

Western Clydesdales continued their promising start to the Harvey Norman Under 17 season with a thrilling 18-16 win over the Capras.

It took just three minutes for the Clydesdales to open the scoring when Scarlett Sippel found space to cross in the corner.

Additional tries from Tiahna Dean, Sally Clifford and Isabelle Duncombe ensured victory for the Clydesdales.
