Townsville Blackhawks have sent an ominous warning to the rest of the Mal Meninga Cup (presented by Ford) with a dominant display against the Northern Pride in Cairns.
With fullback Archie Mesritz and halfback Tyson Walker calling the shots, the Blackhawks produced some slick attacking football to run away with a 48-0 victory.
Centre Trent Martin finished with a hat-trick of tries, while impressive five-eighth Taj Lateo snared a double.
In two matches, the Blackhawks have now scored 80 points and conceded just six.
Norths were another Mal Meninga Cup team that made a statement over the weekend, as the young Devils clicked into gear with a stunning 70-4 victory over the Sunshine Coast Falcons.
Adaquix-Jeramiah Watts-Luke and Rielly Laverty scored five tries between them as the Devils notched win number two for the season.
Ipswich Jets, Brisbane Tigers and Wynnum Manly Seagulls were also big Round 3 winners.
The Jets beat the Western Clydesdales 42-6, the Tigers kept Burleigh Bears scoreless on their way to a 22-0 win, and the Seagulls outgunned Tweed 30-10.
In wet conditions at Yeppoon, Mackay Cutters scored a thrilling 16-14 victory over the Central Queensland Capras.
In a high quality match, Cutters halfback Grange Womal displayed his class with a brilliant try and two conversions to get his team home.
Davies Park hosted a thriller between the Souths Logan Magpies and Redcliffe Dolphins with the hard-fought match finishing in a 22-22 draw.
There was also a tense draw in the Harvey Norman Under 19s, as the Western Clydesdales and Ipswich played out a 20-20 result.
Emily Jackwitz scored two of Ipswich’s four tries, while the Clydesdales try scorers were Isabella Trost, Caitlin Wiggins, Chloe Thompson and Ella Byrnes.
The Round 3 winners were the Wynnum Manly Seagulls, Mackay Cutters, Burleigh Bears, Sunshine Coast Falcons, Townsville Blackhawks and Souths Logan Magpies.
