Playmakers thrive: Junior reps wrap

The stars of Queensland junior representative matches shone brightly for all to see over the weekend.

In the Mal Meninga Cup (presented by Ford), the Ipswich Jets were more like a massive Globemaster with their huge win over the Sunshine Coast Falcons 54-4.

It was 28-0 at half time and Ipswich were just warming up with another five tries in the second half.

Jets captain and half Corey Elder found space and time for everyone around him and then scored his own try.

The Jets went left and Tom Parker went through the defence to find his half backing up in the middle to score under the posts and a 16-0 lead.

It was everything you love to see; a fullback using his speed, a half backing up and a big lead.

Ipswich have scored 170 points in five games, and their attack is hurting teams but they also have had 90 points against them.

In the Harvey Norman Under 17 and Under 19, it was the Magpies just doing Magpie type stuff with both teams taking home big wins.

Davies Park has become home to some of the best young footballers in the country.

In the Under 19s, it was 44-8 over the Central Queensland Capras and Keira Rangi with four tries, taking her tally for 2026 to 11 in five games.

Langi is a left edge weapon that can’t be ignored.

In the Under 17s, it was all the Magpies as they swooped the Jets and came away with a big 30-0 lead at half time. There was no coming back for Ipswich.

Indiana Faaaoga Andrews nailed 8/8, providing a kicking masterclass and 16 points for the Magpies.

The Cyril Connell Cup was all about Townsville and Clarvarn Oth. The Blackhawks winger scored a try that will be spoken about forever.

Oth’s first try from a simple finish, but his second was rare and beautiful.

Oth was mid field and a huge run that couldn’t be stopped by seven Cutters as he streamed through.

His momentum was nearly stopped but he got up and went again to score his double and give the Blackhawks a 28-0 win.

At Kayo Stadium, the Redcliffe Dolphins recorded an impressive 28-14 win over the Central Queensland Capras with the home team crossing for six tries courtesy of Jonathan Alo, Kyron Arthy, Hanipale Sosene, Caleb Blissner and Zachary Butt.
