Queensland Rugby League is proud to launch its ‘Next in Line’ campaign, celebrating the strength of QRL pathways and inspiring footy-mad kids across the state who dream of one day pulling on the Maroon jersey.
The initiative shines a spotlight on junior players at local clubs, reinforcing a simple but powerful message: now it’s their turn.
By signing up and playing rugby league, a unique Maroons experience could be waiting.
At the heart of the campaign is the ‘Your Origin to Origin’ prize – a money-can’t-buy opportunity that will culminate with a registered junior stepping inside the Maroons’ inner sanctum at State of Origin Game I in Sydney.
By simply registering to play junior rugby league through MySideline in 2026, eligible players will automatically go into the draw to win the ultimate State of Origin experience.
The lucky junior and a mate will join the Queensland Maroons in Sydney for the Game I Captain’s Run, before watching the Origin opener live alongside more than 80,000 fans.
Flights and accommodation are included as part of the prize.
This year’s winner will follow in the footsteps of Charlie Frith, a junior footy player from regional Queensland who claimed the unforgettable experience last season.
Alongside his younger brother Harry and mum Angela, Charlie travelled to Sydney to attend the Maroons’ Captain’s Run, walking onto Accor Stadium’s field pre-game and watching the team warm up from the tunnel.
The following night, Charlie and his family returned to the stadium to witness the Maroons’ epic victory live.
The ‘Next in Line’ campaign reinforces the QRL’s commitment to strong grassroots pathways — ensuring young players can see, feel and believe that their journey from local club footy to the Origin arena is possible.
More and more young boys and girls are playing rugby league each year, with player registration numbers having increased by 12 per cent on this time last year
