Pride fire in strong home performance

Northern Pride have continued its Hostplus Cup surge following a strong 40-12 victory over the Western Clydesdales at Barlow Park.

The Pride turned it on in front of their Far North Queensland fans, running in seven tries to two against the visitors to move into fifth place on the ladder.

Two tries from Pride centre Samuel Cramp handed the Cairns-based club the ascendancy, as they raced away to a commanding 22-0 half-time lead.

Fresh from a drought-breaking win against the Tweed Seagulls, the Clydesdales weren’t able to repeat the previous week’s heroics.

However, they did show plenty of fight in the second half with tries to Brock Patti and Stanford Talita.

In other split round matches, Burleigh Bears beat Mackay 14-13; and Souths Logan Magpies got the better of PNG Hunters 30-20.
