Country Week: ‘Where the heart of the game beats’

Get ready regional Queensland, Country Week is coming!

Country Week - Andrew Powell

Seven exciting Hostplus Cup games will be played throughout regional Queensland on the weekend of July 25-26.

Country Week, presented by Ford, will deliver big plays and big moments on local footy fields where the heart of the game beats.

The Queensland Government is again proud to partner with the QRL to bring a full round of Hostplus fixtures to regional communities.

Matches will be played in Ayr, Blackwater, Clermont, Gympie, Innisfail, Roma and Warwick.

Acting Sports Minister Andrew Powell said the Crisafulli Government was proud to continue its support of Country Week.

“Queensland is the home of Australian sport and Country Week isn’t just a round of footy,” Minister Powell said.

“It brings communities together, boosts local businesses, and gives fans the chance to get up close with future stars of the NRL and the Maroons right in their own backyard.

“And moments like that are what inspire the next generation to get involved in sport.”

Minister Powell congratulated the host towns.

“Your passion, your volunteers, and your love for the game are what makes Country Week so special,” he said.

“The canteens and sidelines will be buzzing, it’s the Queensland way.”
