Strong Women, Strong Clubs: Celebrating Harvey Norman Women in League Round

As Queensland Rugby League celebrates Women in League Round this week, we reflect on the inspiring conversations from the ‘Strong Women, Strong Clubs’ event held on the Gold Coast earlier this month during the NRL Harvey Norman Women in League Round.

Hosted by QRL, the Gold Coast Titans and Rugby League Gold Coast, the event brought together 40 female volunteers and club leaders from across the region to connect, share experiences and celebrate the important role women play in rugby league.

The evening featured a panel of influential women in the game, including Gold Coast Titans part owner and Board member Jemma Elder, NRLW player Ivana Lolesio, NRLW coach Karyn Murphy, and General Manager of Community and Game Development Renee Cohen.

Together, they shared their leadership journeys, reflected on the growth of opportunities for women in rugby league, and encouraged more women to step into leadership roles at club level.

QRL Gold Coast Area Manager Katie McAllister said the goal was to remind every woman in the room that leadership comes in many forms.

"Whether you're a president, coach, trainer, registrar or volunteer, you're helping shape the future of our game," she said.

Guests left feeling inspired and connected, with one attendee describing the evening as "uplifting and a reminder that we are not alone, and together we can support each other."

As we celebrate QRL Women in League Round, Strong Women, Strong Clubs is a reminder that our game continues to thrive because of the passionate women who volunteer, lead and create opportunities in communities across Queensland.
