The Sunshine Coast Falcons have spent 23 rounds earning the right to play this game.
The Burleigh Bears have spent the past eight years making a habit of playing games like it.
Now they meet at Sunshine Coast Stadium with a straight shot at the preliminary finals.
For the Falcons, this is a season that has already delivered something special.
Sunshine Coast are Minor Premiers for only the second time in club history, with their previous minor premiership coming in 2019.
This is their 11th finals campaign, their seventh in a row and their ninth in the past 10 seasons.
That's not a streak anymore.
That's a lifestyle.
The Falcons have also hit September in serious form, winning their last five games.
And then there is their record at home.
Sunshine Coast have won their last three at Sunshine Coast Stadium and seven of their last eight.
So, if you're a Burleigh player walking into the stadium thinking, “This should be alright,” you might want to have a quick word with yourself.
Fortunately for the Bears, they are not exactly strangers to this part of the calendar.
Burleigh are making their 16th finals appearance, their eighth consecutive and their ninth in the last 10 seasons.
If there were loyalty points for making the QRL finals, Burleigh would probably have enough to upgrade to business class.
The head-to-head record also gives the Bears plenty of confidence.
Burleigh leads the overall battle 17-12, while the finals ledger currently sits at Burleigh 1, Sunshine Coast 0.
There has only been one finals meeting between these clubs — the 2019 Preliminary Final — which the Bears won 24-6 at UAA Park.
But Sunshine Coast will be quick to point out that the past isn't playing on Saturday.
And they have a very recent piece of evidence to back themselves.
In Round 12 this year, the Falcons went to UAA Park and defeated Burleigh 29-22.
So, while Burleigh owns the historical bragging rights, Sunshine Coast owns the most recent receipt.
And the Bears haven't exactly forgotten what happened.
They also know how to win at this venue.
The last meeting at Sunshine Coast Stadium was in Round 23 last year, when Burleigh put on a statement performance, winning 38-14.
The Bears have won two of the last three meetings between the sides at the Coast.
