The Sunshine Coast Falcons and Souths Logan Magpies are one win away from premiership glory after securing their places in next week's grand finals with preliminary final victories on Saturday.
The Falcons defeated the Central Queensland Capras 32-16 at Sunshine Coast Stadium to advance to the Hostplus Cup decider, while the Magpies held off the Norths Devils 30-24 at Premiers' Park to book their BMD Premiership berth.
Both teams will learn their grand final opponents on Sunday when the remaining preliminary finals are decided.
Mason Peut crossed for a double as the Falcons set up their victory with six unanswered tries, building a commanding 32-0 lead before the Capras mounted a late fightback.
Taine Couper opened the scoring in the 10th minute, with Thomas Casey following six minutes later before Peut claimed his first try in the 26th minute.
Josh Lynn's conversion gave the home side a 14-0 advantage at half-time.
The Falcons extended their lead after the break through Harrison McIndoe in the 50th minute, before Peut completed his double two minutes later.
William Lewis added Sunshine Coast's sixth try on the hour, with Lynn's fourth conversion taking the margin to 32 points.
The Capras refused to go quietly, scoring four tries in the final 15 minutes through Blake Anders, Melino Fineanganofo, Radean Robinson and Rodrick Tai.
Their late rally reduced the deficit, but the minor prems had done enough to keep their premiership bid on track.
At Premiers' Park, Souths Logan withstood a determined Norths comeback to emerge from an 11-try contest with a grand final place.
The Devils struck first through Roimata Amosa-Tiro, but the Magpies responded with three unanswered tries and went on to take a 20-10 lead into half-time.
Norths closed the gap after the break, with tries to Taylor Mapusua and Tayla Sykes bringing the Devils within two points.
Jasmine Solia crossed in the 53rd minute and Skyla Adams converted to give Souths Logan breathing room at 26-18.
Sykes then claimed her second try, with Natalie Wright's conversion again cutting the margin to two points and setting up a tense finish.
Tori Groves Little delivered a crucial try in the 66th minute, restoring the Magpies' six-point advantage as Souths Logan held on to advance.
The Magpies will face the winner of Sunday's BMD Premiership preliminary final between the Brisbane Tigers and Burleigh Bears at Totally Workwear Stadium, kicking off at 12.05pm.
The Falcons' opponent will be decided when the Redcliffe Dolphins host the Burleigh Bears at Kayo Stadium at 2.10pm.
The winners will complete the line-ups for QRL Grand Final day at Kayo Stadium on Saturday, September 26.
