The BMD Premiership Grand Final is set as both the Souths Logan Magpies and Burleigh Bears upset their Preliminary Final opponents last weekend to book their tickets to the big dance.
The Burleigh Bears will run on to Kayo Stadium on the 26th of September filled with confidence after amending last year’s Grand Final defeat to the Brisbane Tigers in last weekend’s Preliminary Final victory.
The Bears were able to hold on and defeat the Tigers 24-22, despite the reigning premiers mounting a fierce comeback in the final 15 minutes.
Despite the win, it’s not all good news for Burleigh ahead of the Grand Final, as a suspension charge currently hangs over star prop Tara McGrath-West, while winger Chelsea Cooper is nursing injuries after leaving the field at half-time against the Tigers.
Conversely, the Souths Logan Magpies’ victory over the Norths Devils came with no serious injury or suspension worries, as they’re expected to run out the exact same squad which won them a place in the Grand Final.
