Supporting Queensland communities as 2027 registrations open

Queensland Rugby League clubs, volunteers, players and participants can begin planning for another exciting season, with registrations for the 2027 rugby league season opening on Monday, December 7.

In welcome news for the rugby league community, insurance premiums and the QRL administration levy will remain unchanged from 2026, providing certainty and affordability for clubs and participants across the state.

With more than 73,900 participants involved in rugby league across Queensland in 2026, the game continues to be powered by the volunteers, families, players, coaches and officials who make community rugby league possible.

For many clubs, keeping costs stable is an important part of ensuring rugby league remains accessible for players of all ages and backgrounds. By maintaining insurance premiums at the same cost as 2026, QRL is helping clubs continue to focus on what matters most: creating opportunities for people to play, connect and be part of their local rugby league community.

QRL's State Programs Coordinator, Linda Saunders says, "we know every saving counts for families. By keeping the insurance and admin levy unchanged for 2027, QRL aims to help ease cost-of-living pressures while ensuring participants continue to have important insurance coverage."

Whether it's a child's first experience in the game, a volunteer giving up their time on the weekend, or a lifelong supporter helping their local club thrive, every participant plays a role in the growth of rugby league across the state.

For clubs, the certainty of unchanged insurance premiums provides valuable confidence heading into the new season. It allows committees and volunteers to plan ahead, support their members and continue investing their time and energy into building strong local rugby league environments.

Vice President of Souths Graceville Hounds, Paul Joseph says, "rugby league is still one of, if not the most affordable sports in its category. This is having a positive impact on new player registrations each year."

The announcement also reflects QRL's ongoing commitment to supporting grassroots rugby league and ensuring the game remains welcoming and accessible for Queensland families.

As registrations open on December 7, Queenslanders are encouraged to reconnect with their local clubs, sign up for the new season and be part of the next chapter of the game.
