Queensland Rugby League (QRL) is pleased to announce the appointment of highly respected pathways coach Amy Bock to the newly created role of Female Athlete Development and Pathways Manager.
The appointment represents a significant step forward in the QRL's ongoing investment in the female game and follows recommendations from the recent Female Pathway Review and subsequent Women's Forum.
A passionate Queenslander who grew up in South West Queensland before relocating to the Sunshine Coast to play with the Beerwah Bulldogs in 2014, Bock brings extensive experience and a deep understanding of the female rugby league pathway.
Since joining the QRL as Female Pathways Coach in 2024, Bock has played a key role in supporting player and coach development, while helping strengthen pathway progression opportunities across Queensland's statewide competitions.
In her new role, Bock will lead the delivery of initiatives aimed at enhancing the development, wellbeing and long-term success of female athletes across the state.
“As a proud Queenslander, it's incredibly special to have the opportunity to contribute to the continued growth of the female game in our state,” Bock said.
“I've seen first-hand the incredible progress that's been made over recent years, and it's exciting to be part of a game that continues to create more opportunities for women and girls, both on and off the field.”
Working alongside the QRL's high-performance and community teams, Bock and the wider female pathways network will focus on four key pillars:
Athlete Protection and Support
Strengthening the support systems around female athletes through wellbeing initiatives, mentoring opportunities and transition support across all stages of the pathway.
Female Athlete Development and Pathway Leadership
Providing dedicated leadership and a consistent, athlete-centred approach to female development throughout the QRL pathway system.
Female Leadership and Workforce Development
Increasing the number of female coaches, performance staff and leaders across the game while creating clear development opportunities for women in rugby league.
Environment Quality, Research and Innovation
Enhancing the quality and consistency of development environments and using research, data and evidence-based practices to inform the future evolution of female pathways.
QRL interim Chief Executive Officer Glenn Ottaway congratulated Bock on her appointment.
“Since joining the QRL as Female Pathways Coach, Amy has made a significant contribution to the growth and development of our female programs,” Ottaway said.
“She has worked closely with players, coaches and clubs across the state, helping strengthen our pathways and create more opportunities for women and girls in rugby league.
“Amy's experience, leadership and passion for the female game make her exceptionally well placed to lead this important area as we continue to invest in the future of women's rugby league in Queensland.”
