Linda Saunders /

Growing up in South East Queensland and the Northern Rivers, Linda has had a passion for volunteering since the age of 16 and understands the positive impacts it can have both personally and to the community.  She has volunteered with the local SES and Bush Fire Brigade and the Multiple Birth Association.

Linda started volunteering in Rugby League when her oldest son began playing.  Besides her husband’s unwavering passion for the Broncos and the Maroons, she had not had a lot to do with the code before that. Witnessing firsthand the work that volunteers were putting in to ensure her son had a game every weekend, Linda knew that she had to contribute.

She began in a micro volunteering role, to assist with accommodating a busy life with four young kids and working part-time, and then went on to be the club registrar and secretary for 4.5 years.  She has also been the canteen coordinator, leaguesafe, event coordinator, ground announcer, the list goes on.

Linda believes that volunteering is a great way to meet people, build relationships and give back to the community.  She is so happy that her boys began playing rugby league, and attributes their involvement in the sport, to them being such well rounded young men, with a great group of mates.

Linda is committed to do what she can to empower volunteers to get the most out of gifting their time and is always looking to create/provide resources that will make their roles more effective and efficient.  Linda is more than happy to engage directly with volunteers, and find out what motivates them to be involved, and is a driver of the recognition programs that QRL are implementing.
