Biography

Michael Crocker was an aggressive player, but also one blessed with sublime skills.

He played junior football with Norths Brighton in Brisbane and then with Norths Devils, before signing with Redcliffe Dolphins.

He came off the bench for the Dolphins' first grade in the 1999 Queensland Cup grand final against Burleigh.

Michael Crocker never took a backward step

Crocker joined the Sydney Roosters the following year and made his NRL debut in 2001. He came off the bench in the Roosters' 30-8 win over New Zealand Warriors in the 2002 grand final.

Crocker made his State of Origin debut for Queensland in 2003 and went on to play 13 matches for his state, winning two series along the way.

He played six Tests for Australia, and toured France and Britain with the 2003 Kangaroos, playing all three Tests against Great Britain, the third at five-eighth.

Crocker played hooker and second row respectively in the Roosters 2003 and 2004 grand final losses and then in 2006 joined Melbourne Storm.

He played in three grand finals in a row with the Storm, with losses to Brisbane and Manly in 2006 and 2008 respectively, and a win over Manly in 2007.

Crocker signed with South Sydney in 2009, spending five seasons with the Rabbitohs before retiring with 204 NRL games under his belt.

He had an amazing number of injury setbacks during his career - including three major knee operations - but never thought about throwing in the towel.

Crock was aggressive, a Queensland legend. He was always there when they needed a big shot of aggression.

Jarrod Wallace FOG #189

Crocker was offered the Melbourne under 20 coaching job in 2014, but instead went to work with the Rugby League Players' Association.

He then ran a junior coaching academy on the Gold Coast, before starting work with Lindores Cranes.

Crocker has been a great supporter of 'Soldier On', playing a number of times in the annual Sgt Matthew Locke Memorial Game at Bellingen in Northern New South Wales.
