Biography

Tim Glasby went from being under-rated to celebrated in 2017, when he made his Queensland State of Origin debut and won a premiership with Melbourne Storm.

A product of Rockhampton Norths Knights and Rockhampton Brothers, Glasby played for the Penrith Panthers in the NRL’s National Youth Competition in 2008 and 2009, before returning to Rockhampton to play for Central Queensland Capras in the Intrust Super Cup, captaining the side in 2012.

Glasby won Player of the Year award three years running for the Capras, before being signed by Melbourne Storm in 2013. He quickly became a fixture in the Storm's NRL squad, and came off the bench in the 2016 grand final loss to Cronulla. He made his Origin debut in Game II of the 2017 series, which Queensland won 18-16. He kept his place for the decider at Suncorp Stadium, with the Maroons winning 22-6, giving Glasby the last laugh on the NSW media, who branded him an 'NRL Nobody'.

Glasby enjoyed further success, with the Storm beating North Queensland 34-6 in the 2017 NRL grand final. Early in 2018, he played in Melbourne's 38-4 win over Leeds in the World Club Challenge match in England.

He’s not the flashiest player, he hasn’t got the biggest profile, but he’s going to go out there and give 100 per cent.

Cameron Smith FOG #140

The Townsville-born forward started in the front row in the 2018 NRL grand final, with the Storm losing 21-6 to the Roosters. Glasby signed a three-year deal with the Newcastle Knights and played 21 games in his first season, before on-going concussion issues forced him into retirement, after seven appearances in 2020.

He played a total of 138 NRL games (110 for the Storm) and represented Queensland five times, having been selected for Game III in 2018 and Game II and Game III in 2019, on top of his debut campaign.

Glasby took on a job as Storm's recruitment officer and pathways manager, late in 2020.
