FOLLOWING weeks of dominance in the FOGS Cup competition the Easts Tigers suffered their first loss for the season last weekend with a strong Redcliffe Dolphins side halting their unbeaten run.

The Dolphins scored a tight 20-14 victory over the Tigers at Langlands Park with Intrust Super Cup regulars Liam Georgetown and Al Heldsinger amongst the try scorers.

Norths were the other winners in the FOGs competition last weekend, securing a 28-10 win over Wynnum Manly to join the Tigers who sit at the top of the table with seven wins from eight games. Both teams are yet to have a bye.

In a round of close results the Tweed Heads Seagulls were the only big winners in the FOGS Colts competition defeating the Souths Logan Magpies 40-28. Sam Grant and Matt Applebee both scored doubles for Tweed, while Ryland Smith also crossed twice for the Magpies bringing his season total to eight tries so far.

The Sunshine Coast moved ahead of Norths on the ladder into third spot despite missing the round with a bye, with the Devils going down to Wynnum Manly 22-14 last Sunday.

This weekends match-up between Redcliffe and Norths at Dolphin Oval shapes as an interesting game with both teams sitting on five wins. In Saturdays clash at Gold Park, the Toowoomba Clydesdales will have to perform well if they are to upset Wynnum Manly.

The Seagulls boast the best defensive record in the Colts competition, having only let in 94 points in seven games.

Brisbane Poinsettias Squad
BRISBANE Poinsettias coach Mark Gliddon unveiled his nominated squad of 25 players who are under consideration for selection in the representative team to attend the XXXX A Grade carnival.

The carnival will be held during the weekend of June 1-2 and will take place on the Sunshine Coast.

The Brisbane squad has been selected from the FOGS Cup, excluding players from the Ipswich Jets.

The Poinsettias will join a South East Queensland outfit drawn from Ipswich, Gold Coast and Brisbanes Second Division Premier Grade competitions, as well as Central United and the Northern Marlins representative teams at the June carnival.

Following the weekend of matches, the Queensland Rugby League will announce its XXXX Queensland Rangers side to take on a NSW representative team at Lismore.

Gliddon confirmed that he would finalise the 19-member Poinsettias team after the weekend of May 18-19.

He is also hoping that some standout Colts players will continue to push for a berth in the Brisbane side.
