The XXXX Queensland Residents completed a spirited training session against the Maroons today as both teams stepped up preparations for next Wednesday nights interstate matches.

The Residents team left their Gold Coast base early this morning to travel to the Sunshine Coast for the opposed session against Mal Meningas Origin team.

The training ground at Palmer Coolum Resort was heavy under foot after overnight rain but both teams ball handling was near perfect in the slippery conditions.

Residents coach Paul Green liked what he saw from his players, who will attempt to claim a third-straight victory for Queensland in Wednesday nights annual representative fixture at ANZ Stadium.

Green is yet to name his captain, but he concedes he has no shortage of quality candidates in his 17-man squad.

The former Wynnum Manly premiership-winning coach put his players through a number of extras after todays opposed session.

The Residents team, which features the best players from the Intrust Super Cup, stayed on the field for another 30 minutes after the Maroons had left to catch their early afternoon flight to Sydney.

The team then headed to the gym and worked up a further sweat before having lunch and returning to Royal Pines on the Gold Coast.

They will travel to Sydney tomorrow and have a final hit-out in enemy territory before Wednesday's 5.45pm clash against the talented NSW Cup representative team.

QRL TV caught up with Green and key playmakers Jake Granville and Cody Walker today. Stay tuned!
