The Caloundra RSL Cup took another surprising twist at the weekend, after two weeks of upsets across the competition.
The Kawana Dolphins put to bed the demons which delivered them back-to-back losses in the past two rounds to defeat the Gympie Devils 20-10.
The four tries to two win moves the Dolphins back on top of the leaderboard, and keeps the Devils locked in a battle for outright second place.
The ladder was tightened further when the Caboolture Snakes turned on an upset to defeat fierce local rivals the Bribie Island Sea Eagles 28-16 on Saturday night.
Troy Coggins bagged a double as Caboolture delivered a Snake Pit ambush to halt the Sea Eagles momentum and remain well in the hunt for the last finals spot.
Maroochydore have ensured the battle for fourth spot will be a close one, defeating Nambour 26-16.
And in the final match of the round, the Caloundra Sharks and Noosa Pirates could not be split, finishing in 24-all draw at Pirate Park.
In round 12 this week, Kawana will look to keep some breathing room at the top of the ladder when they host Noosa on Saturday, while Caboolture will travel to take on Nambour and must win to keep in the race for fourth spot.
The competition will have an outright second place holder on Sunday afternoon, when the Sea Eagles host the Gympie Devils at Bernie Foley Oval.
In the remaining game, Maroochydore will look to keep the heat on Caboolture with a win when they travel to face the Caloundra Sharks.
