The Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles are recruiting for a new head coach following the resignation of David Cordwell this week.

Cordwell resigned on Wednesday afternoon following the completion of his second season in the top coaching position with the club.

Sea Eagles CEO Chris Flannery praised Cordwells efforts.

Dave is a stalwart of rugby league on the Sunshine Coast, hes given a tremendous amount of his time not only to the Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles, but to rugby league across the entire region, Flannery said.

We are currently advertising for the role, and have some quality candidates. Weve also got some great coaches that are a part of our club already. We have enough time before pre-season starts for 2014, so were taking the time to make sure we appoint the right person for the job.

Flannery is hopeful for a brighter on field season in 2014.

Were really excited for what lies ahead next year. With a new coach comes fresh ideas and a different way of thinking, he said.

Were also nearing an announcement from the ARL Commission that we hope will allow us an opportunity to align with an interstate NRL team moving forward.

An announcement on the new head coach is expected in the coming weeks.
