Rising rugby league star Ethan Paikea is the Gold Coast Academy of Sport Male Athlete of the Year.
After suffering a shoulder injury at the beginning of the season, Ethan had a standout first year in the GCAS Rugby League program.
He represented the Queensland Maroons Under 15 schooboys team, which won the national titles undefeated.
He was also named in the Cyril Connell U16 Gold Coast rep team and the South Coast schoolboys side. Ethans on field and off field performances throughout the year have been outstanding. His long term-goal is to play in the NRL and finish school with great grades.
The Gold Coast Academy of Sport Encouragement Award went to Slade Robinson, who was recognised at Wednesdays awards following his outstanding dedication and commitment to the GCAS Rugby League program.
Slade has always represented the GCAS with flying colours and is respectful to his coaches.
