IN a massive boost to rugby league in Far North Queensland, Cairns District Rugby League has today announced its biggest ever sponsorship deal.

David McCoy Homes, Cairns Key Real Estate, Kenfrost Homes, Pools by Kenfrost and LD Total Cairns – all owned by local builder and developer John Richardson – will front as the new naming rights sponsors for the competition.

The David McCoy Homes Cairns Key Real Estate Cairns District Rugby League will cover all Grades (A Grade, Reserves, C Grade and Under 18s).

Meanwhile, the Game of the Round will be named as the Kenfrost Homes Game of the Round, and Player of the Round will be named the LD Total Cairns Player of the Round.

Speaking today, David McCoy Homes General Manager Adam Gowlett said the sponsorship reflected the strong commitment all of Mr Richardson’s organisations have made and would continue to make in the region.

"We know the importance of the CDRL and rugby league in general to the people of Far North Queensland,” Mr Gowlett said.

“The competition leads the way in Queensland in regards to its organisation, community involvement and passion, and we are proud to be involved.”

Also speaking today, CDRL Operations Manager Pat Bailey said the new partnership was great news for all players, coaches, referees, volunteers and staff associated with the competition.

“I’ve known John for a long time, and after recent discussions, we’re delighted he’s decided to come on board and support this season’s competition,” she said.

“We’re thrilled to work with locally-based and growing organisations that share our commitment to the community.

“It’s an exciting time for everyone involved in our competition, and our partnership with Mr Richardson’s companies reflects our ongoing success.

“We both have a lot in common, striving to advance our business practices and maintaining a high degree of professionalism.

“These businesses have demonstrated their dedication to excellence and achieving their goals, and we believe we match that dedication in our approach to rugby league.

“It's the start of a big year, and it's only going to get better.”
