THE formation of a new junior rugby league club in the Cairns District Junior Rugby League was formalised at the weekend (February 16) with a committee elected at the inaugural Annual General Meeting of the White Rock Junior Rugby League.
A competition will be held to select the club’s name and colours to identify with the local area.
The incorporated club will be based at the White Rock State School with the school providing valuable support and use of the school playing field for training and a possible playing venue.
Cairns QRL Regional Coordinator, Dave Maiden, said the establishment of the club was a result of strong registration numbers in the southern corridor and identifying support for a club in the White Rock area.
“The club’s player sign on day will be held at White Rock School Saturday, February 22, 10am-2pm and we are hopeful of having a minimum of four teams participating in the local league this year,” he said.
The club is also looking for rugby league supporters to take up coaching, team managers and first aid officer roles with the club.
Anyone interested can contact the club president Terese Allen on 0422 190 350.
