The Under 14s from Ivanhoes hosted Innisfail for the Brandon Peters Memorial Rugby League Cup on Saturday, March 15.

Brandon Peters was a member of the Ivanhoes club when he passed in 2010. The tradition of the Cup began in 2011 as a rugby league touch carnival, played in conjunction with the CDJRL trial matches.

In 2014 the Cup was held as a single U14's rugby league match between Ivanhoes and the winner of last year’s CDJRL U13's competition, Innisfail.

The match was played in quarters over 60 minutes and was quickly dominated by the visitors, yet Ivanhoes were courageous and fought to the end, getting their second and final try of the match in the final two minutes of the game.

Innisfail won the match 64-10, with Brandon's father and younger sister presenting the Cup to the winning side. A great day was had by all and the teams displayed great sportsmanship on the day.
