As a former long serving president of the Maryborough Rugby League, Ted Weber OAM loves to talk about the game in his region.

But if you’re a genuine rugby league enthusiast who loves the tradition of the game, then it’s probably best you read his book – “Hard Yards – Rugby League Recollections Maryborough 1910-2010”.

His book will give you an even greater appreciation of Maryborough’s rich rugby league history.

“To me, it would be the bible for anyone wanting to know anything about rugby league in Maryborough,” Weber said.

“The interesting part is I managed to pick up a lot of old photos and some of them are 100 years old,” Weber said.

These incredible pictures include shots of the first premiership-winning team and the original Maryborough committee.

The book provides a decade by decade account of Maryborough’s incredible rugby league history.

In its golden period, some rugby league grand finals would attract 4000 fans.

The standard of play was tough and skilful, with many players going on to represent Queensland.

“The reserve grade was nearly as strong as the A grade,” Weber said.
