The stage is set for a pulsating QRL Grand Final day this Saturday at Kayo Stadium following a gripping weekend of preliminary finals action.
Four different clubs will be represented across the Hostplus Cup and BMD Premiership grand finals after the Redcliffe Dolphins ended the Burleigh Bears’ dream of a premiership double in today’s Cup preliminary final.
Burleigh had earlier qualified for the BMD Premiership decider against the Souths Logan Magpies after beating the Brisbane Tigers 24-22 at Totally Workwear Stadium.
The Magpies were the first team to secure their spot in the women’s grand final following a 30-24 victory over the Norths Devils on Saturday.
However, the Bears men won't be joining the club’s BMD team on QRL Grand Final day for another shot at the Cup title after falling to a red-hot Dolphins team.
The Dolphins produced a superb second half, with fullback Trai Fuller grabbing two tries as the home team ran away with a 40-22 victory over the gallant Bears.
Redcliffe will now get down to business and prepare for a Cup showdown with the Sunshine Coast Falcons, who prevailed 32-16 over the Central Queensland Capras in Saturday’s first preliminary final.
