Under 16s - Division 2 North

Aspley v Samford

It was the second game of the season for these two sides, with a great night down at Aspley under the big lights and strong support by spectators from both sides.

Aspley were first to get on the board, breaking through Samford’s line of defence with the Aspley hooker Mitchell Gray scoring followed by a smooth conversion by the fullback Corey Spice.

Aspley followed up back to back tries with Cooper Tomes the five-eighth getting it over the line, with Corey adding another successful conversion to his stats for 2014.

The Samford boys worked hard on maintaining an unbreakable line of defence however Aspley were all too quick on spotting openings in their impressive attacking game, gaining another six points with Harrison Gates the try scorer and Rhyse Hinds the successful goal kicker.

With the half time score being 18-0 the boys indulged in a well-earned drink and a breather, with wise words from their coaches on how to improve their game going into the second-half.

Samford incorporated the use of a simple diamond play which proved to be successful in seeing them get on the board with try scorer Driann Preyer.

Aspley quickly reacted with Jaxon Malaki scoring followed by Corey's golden boot. Aspley's big second rower Tim Peterson set up an awesome last try of the game from the opposition's 20, pumping his legs with a strong fend setting it up for Rhyse Hinds, followed by Corey's successful conversion ending the game 30-4.

Both sides demonstrated good sportsmanship with the famous handshake and pat on the back.
