ON SATURDAY April 26, the Highfields Eagles club took on the South Tigers.

There was a beautiful turnout from the crowd as it was a sunny day, with those who came along to watch the matches offering outstanding support for the junior rugby league players.

The Under 7 teams up to the Under 10 teams played extraordinary games, showing great sportsmanship on and off the field.

In the Under 11s match, Souths were defeated 30-4.

Despite some brilliant defence from Highfields, Souths were able to come out with a win in the Under 12 game, claiming a 34-8 victory.

Both clubs also field development teams, which really support each player getting their fair turn in the game.

On Saturday, Highfields Under 11/12 Development team defeated Souths, 14-12.

After a close cut game, Highfields Under 13 lost 16-14; while the Under 14s also went down 36-4.

Highfields other Development team the Under13/14 were rewarded with a large win, taking the game 38-18.

As the afternoon came to a close, the light soon dimmed and the weather closed in; however, the boys’ spirits stayed high.

In a long, exhausting last game from the Under 16s, Souths finished the afternoon successfully winning the match with a try for a final score of 30-22.
