Player Profile: Jake George
JAKE George represents Highfields Eagles as the 2014 Club Captain. Playing for Highfields since he was 7 and being involved with the club for far longer shows in his leadership and sportsmanship skills when it comes to not only playing football, but representing Highfields Junior Rugby League.
Previously Jake has achieved a lot in the game, making teams in Toowoomba and Darling Downs; also best forward, most valuable player and coach’s awards as well as being named Junior Eagle.
Recently Highfields Junior Rugby League reopened the Highfields Bowls Club. This bowls club is now where the majority of fundraising between Jake and the 2014 Princess, Jaime Lee Bishop takes place. Fundraising includes selling meat trays, $100 boards and face painting and hair spraying.
Jake speaks highly of his team who play in the Under 16 age group. They have only lost one game and are looking positive to get in to the Presidents Cup in the following weeks.
“The club has been going really well with most the teams having successful seasons so far,” Jake said.
Finally, Jake encouraged junior players to stay dedicated to junior rugby league as it is a really great social and cultural experience.
“Have fun playing footy, don’t worry too much about making representative teams and always listen to people who give you criticism about your game because they can see things you can’t,” he said.
Jake George has excelled in rugby league from a young age and will continue to do so. A friendly face to look out for at Highfields games or if you decide to go to Highfields and Support Jake and Jaime with tickets in a meat tray raffle or two.
