To finish off the end of Round Two in the NDRL competition, South Kolan took on Gin Gin at Shark Park and Kolan were out for revenge after Gin Gin embarrassingly flogged them 110-nil in the first game of the 2014 season.

South Kolan with their Tongan imports had the size but the Hawks had players such as Michael Murphy, Jesse Jenkins, Todd Blair and new recruit Ryan Gerahty with the guts who kept attacking the big forward pack that South Kolan put on the paddock.

Both teams scored five tries a piece but the Sharks kicked one more goal to eventually win 26-24 scoring a late try to put them in front of the Hawks. Gin Gin and Kolan had several players sinbinned during the match adding to the frustration of players, coaching staff and spectators.

Gin Gin has the bye next week and Kolan take on Miriam Vale at Gary Larsen Oval.

In the earlier game Miriam Vale took on Avondale with both sides fielding full teams with the Avondale Tigers improving each week to get the two points over the Pies winning six tries to two finishing with a 30-12 score line. Miriam Vale welcomed the return of Aaron Causton who has been absent due to work commitments but the Pies missed young forward Brent Crawford who is out suspended.

Matt Ross, playing out of position at half-back, scored two tries for the Tigers along with Lars Fapoi scoring a double and Andrew Filo had an average day out with the boot, kicking three from six for the day.

Miriam Vale needs to rally for their home game next week against the Sharks and Avondale play Agnes Water who are coming off the bye.

Thank you to all those spectators who come every week, paying money to get in the gate and supporting rugby league in our area.
