The Burdekin Roosters handed the University Saints a footballing lesson in wet weather football in Round 12 of the TDRL Rugby League competition.

The match played in atrocious conditions at Joe Baker Field on Saturday evening saw the Roosters come away with a morale boosting 35‒20 victory over the informed Saints.  It was the Roosters experience which allowed them to handle the difficult conditions better than the young University side, with the wet weather wreaking havoc on ball security.

It was the Roosters halves who managed to control the field possession with deft kicking and strong go forward which allowed them to outmuscle the University defence.

It was hard going for both sides on a heavy and greasy track however it was the Roosters who got on a roll late in the first half completing their sets and making it difficult for the Saints to get off their line with some bruising defence.

In the second half Burdekin executed their plays well and continuously had the University defence at sixes and sevens.

Temone Power was a standout for the Roosters and a constant threat to the University defence crossing for two tries while Jordon Remfrey and Hayden Crowley both crossed for doubles for the Saints.

It was Burdekin's fifth win of the season and moved them ahead of University into fourth spot on the ladder with University currently occupying fifth spot with four competition wins so far this season.
