Keiron Lander will have the honour of captaining the XXXX Queensland Residents in Wednesday’s representative match at Suncorp Stadium.

Queensland coach Jason Demetriou delivered the news at the team’s final hit out at Langlands Park today.

“We’ve had a few days to look at the dynamics of the team now and Keiron has been a strong voice in the group from day one,” Demetriou said.

Demetriou said the Ipswich Jets skipper was a “natural leader” who was highly respected by his teammates.

Souths Logan Magpies hooker Kurt Baptiste will also take on a leadership role as the team’s vice-captain.

Demetriou confirmed his team would be as per the 17 announced on Friday, with Ben Cronin the unlucky player to miss out after being heavily considered during the week.

Wednesday’s match will be live streamed here

Kick-off is 5.55pm.
