Final weeks to press for play-off places

FOGS and Colts Team Lists August 1-2

THE Redcliffe Dolphins scored a big 48-0 win over the Norths Devils in last weekend’s FOGS Cup match which pushed them further in front of their rivals on the competition ladder and have them sitting pretty for finals football.

This year, the FOGS Cup will once again feature a top four finals series – with games spread across four weeks in line with both of the other major competitions the Intrust Super Cup and FOGS Colts Challenge.

With five rounds left to go in both competitions – there is still a lot of football to be played, starting with some key match ups this weekend.

The Dolphins will host their nearest challengers Wynnum Manly in a 1 v 2 clash on Sunday, while across town the Magpies will be aiming to catch up with the leaders and claim win number six when they take on Norths. Last year’s grand finalists Ipswich will host Carina in the only Saturday game.

In the FOGS Colts competition, the Toowoomba Clydesdales will be looking to build on their performance from last weekend where they held on to draw 22-22 with the Wynnum Manly Seagulls. This week, they will host the other Gulls of the competition Tweed Heads, who will be keen to bounce back from a 24-4 loss in their derby match against top-of-the-table Burleigh.

The Jets posted a strong 40-28 win over Easts Tigers last Sunday with Daniel Jennings and Wilson Bennet against amongst the points; with Jennings (20 tries) and Bennet (15 tries) continuing to hold on to the top two spots on the Leading Try Scorers ladder.

This Saturday, the side will host the Sunshine Coast Falcons – who fresh from a bye, will keen to improve on their performance from the last time the two sides met in round 18, where the Jets posted a 38-12 win.
