THE Queensland Rugby League are pleased to announce the appointment of Glenn Ottaway to the role of Central Division Manager.

Ottaway’s previous role as the Chief Executive Officer of the Mackay Cutters Rugby League Club saw him lead a team that created links with local schools, junior and senior clubs.  A key component of his previous position was to nurture and promote talent for the club, right across this key rugby league district. He was also required to grow revenue streams through the development of strategic relationships that evolved into key sponsorship partnerships, making the club financially sustainable.

Ottaway also currently holds the position of chairman of the Mackay and District Rugby League, a role which sees him lead a strategic initiative to align all levels of the game in the region, a goal that is directly in line with the National Rugby League’s ‘whole of game’ approach.  He also is the chair of the committee of Intrust Super Cup clubs which has further developed his knowledge of the game, particularly at the semi-professional level.

All of this experience is underpinned by tertiary qualifications and previous roles as secondary school physical education teacher, further developing his strong belief the future of rugby league lies in the ongoing development of grassroots clubs and competitions.

Ottaway is looking forward to commencing his role of Central Division Manager and is keen to take on the challenge of facilitating the continued growth and sustainability of the game in one of the state’s largest rugby league catchment areas.
