Three first-year referees received a huge thrill at Suncorp Stadium last weekend.

Taite Clark, Raymond Tutton and Jake Rogers teamed up to control an Under 9s junior match in front of more than 45,000 fans during a break in play of last Saturday’s Four Nations double-header action.

The promising trio are members of the Brisbane Rugby League Referees’ Association.

“All of them have worked really hard to hone their skills in their first year and this is a bit of a reward for them,” BRL Referees’ president Marc Sauvage said.

“It also gave them an opportunity to referee in front of a big crowd.”

Taite took the whistle for the match with support from Raymond and Jake.

Sauvage has been impressed with the efforts and commitment displayed by the talented young guns throughout 2014.

He said Taite was a natural leader who “loves refereeing”.

“He reckons he’s got the best seat in the house,” Sauvage said.
