Rhys Wesser “Dream, Believe, Achieve” Shield update

Nominations have now closed for the 2015 carnival with 14 teams vying for the Division One Rhys Wesser Shield.

Returning are last year’s winners Walkerston Wanderers and they are very keen to defend their title.

We also have returning after a few years away, Cap Coast Brothers and Biloela and they will be joined by first time participants Edmonton Storm and Charleville. Also back again are Gladstone, Mackay & Rocky Brothers, Sarina make it four years in a row, Tannum Seagulls return, North’s, Fitzroy’s & Emu Park have two sides.

As in previous years, this carnival is about participation, so every side will play four games on the Friday with the sides ranked into the following day finals, which will kick off from around 10.30am and include an action pack day of rugby league at Browne Park.

The day will include a development morning held by the NRL Development team with Rhys from 8pm then there will be the Cyril Connell and Mal Meninga Cup games between the CQ Capras and Mackay Cutters, the Division Rhys Wesser Final then the Intrust Super Game between the Capras and Cutters at 6pm.

Also being held again this year is the Rhys Wesser Camp Quality All Stars game v the Carnival All Stars which includes Rhys, Justin Loomans, Jamie Simpson and the Camp Quality Kids up against a team of parents from the various teams lead by NRL Development Manager Dominic Draper. This gives the kids some time having a game of touch footy with some past NRL players.
