TRISTAN Hope starred for the Toowoomba Clydesdales last weekend as they secured their first win in four outings in the FOGS Colts Challenge.

A hat-trick to the number 9 helped the Garden City side to a 40-24 win over the Ipswich Jets, with Hope also booting six goals for a game tally of 24 points.

Ritchie Lowe also crossed twice for the home side, while Jets fullback Jy Mullen ran in two tries in the high-scoring match.

The Ipswich team were without five-eighth Brandon McGrady who made the step up to debut for the Jets Intrust Super Cup team against the Sunshine Coast Falcons.

While Toowoomba celebrated their breakthrough win – the Burleigh Bears and Wynnum Manly Seagulls continued to pose unanswerable questions for their opposition teams, winning their fourth straight matches.

The Bears took their local derby match against the Tweed Heads Seagulls 42-10 with the trio of Mitch Doring, Brett Stratton and Sam Grant all grabbing a brace of tries.

In Wynnum Manly’s 60-22 triumph over the Souths Logan Magpies – it was a quartet of double try-scorers, with Liam Clark, Jordan Clamp, Tumoana Halkyard and Joshua Marshman finding the line twice each.

Marshman was also successful in slotting over eight goals for a season tally of 48 points (five tries, 14 goals).

This weekend, Toowoomba are guaranteed another two competition points with the bye alongside the Tweed Heads Seagulls, while Wynnum Manly will travel to the Sunshine Coast to take on a Falcons side who are coming off a close win over the Tigers.

There will be three games played on Sunday, with the only Saturday game between the Jets and Norths kicking off round 5 at 3.15pm on Saturday.

The Devils might be winless – but have fallen an agonising two points short in two of their past four losses, including last weekend’s 26-24 defeat at the hands of the Redcliffe Dolphins.
