Defending IRL premiers, Northern Suburbs.

The 2015 Ipswich Rugby League season will be kicking off in spectacular fashion at the North Ipswich Reserve this Saturday with a gala day of rugby league consisting of three games of entertaining Mayor Paul Pisasale A Grade football.

Along with a great day of grassroots rugby league, the IRL are raising money and awareness for “beyondblue”.

beyondblue is working to reduce the impact of anxiety, depression and suicide in the community by raising awareness and understanding, empowering people to seek help, and supporting recovery, management and resilience.

The IRL will be donating $25.00 for every try scored in the three Mayor Paul Pisasale fixtures during the first round of fixtures.

Chairman Jack Rhea, said: “Mental Health is a real issue in society and the game; and rugby league in Ipswich is no different”.

“If the IRL can use its profile in Ipswich to help one person, well it is money and time well spent.”

Mental illness and suicide is an area that has been at the forefront of the minds of rugby league supporters in resent time. A lot of education, awareness and time is spent by the game to provide all players, officials and supporters an environment where they feel safe and comfortable to talk about the issue. Rugby League is a tool that puts a smile on the face of everyone involved and this Saturday will be no different.

As the IRL has done over the past few years, Round 1 will be a stage to display the finest grassroots local football with all three Mayor Paul Pisasale A Grade fixtures being played at the home of rugby league the North Ipswich Reserve.

2015 also offers onlookers the opportunity to see the Ipswich Jets first BRL fixture for the season. The day will finish with one of the longest standing local rivalries when the 2014 premiers Norths Tigers take on Brothers in the Grand Final replay.

The IRL Season Launch will not be just about great football with the Footy Show Pathfinder attending, Mascot races and kids rides all making it a day for the whole family. The North Ipswich Reserve is a great opportunity to get the kids out of the house over the Easter Break.
