Last Saturday the Pittsworth Ladies League Tag team travelled to Warwick with their sights set firmly on their first win, and that is exactly what they got.

The girls defence was outstanding and has improved greatly since the first time they laced on the boots back in March.

Forwards Jess Elsden and Vanessa Ruhle constantly made meters up the middle, giving the girls good field position and they threatened Warwick’s line a number of times.

It didn’t take long with Jess Elsden breaking the line in a player of the match performance and scoring the first try of the game which she also converted from wide out to take the girls to a 6-0 lead.

The girls managed to take their good form into the second half continuing their awesome defence which was led by Brittany Carpenter, Bec Whitton and Hanna Schultz.

This once again paid off with Tamara Miller scoring her first try of the season and Jess Elsden once again converting to extend the lead to 12-0.

It took Warwick 48 mins to get their first points but the girls hung on, although giving everyone a heart attack in the dying seconds scrambling in defence to tag Warwick on the final siren less than a metre from the try line.

Congratulations and awesome effort girls, bring on the next game!
