His side may have passed the half century mark but Logan Brothers coach Jason Gainey has his eyes set on further improvement.

Brothers notched a 50-20 victory over Carina at Civic Park on Saturday afternoon.

However, Gainey wasn’t entirely pleased with the performance.

“We turned over too much ball in the first half, it was a solid win but there is still plenty of work to be done,” he said.

The sides traded tries during the first forty with a Graham Levu four pointer on the stroke of halftime giving Logan a 20-14 lead.

Following some fairly direct instructions in the sheds, the home side showed more control early in the second, crossing for four straight tries to take the score to 44-14.

Carina managed to strike back when Scott Greenhill strolled through but Logan Brothers had the final say.

As was the case in the first half, Levu struck moments before the siren.

The return of 212 Intrust Super/Queensland Cup game player Wade Liddell was the major talking point, with the former Easts Tiger starting at hooker and playing two stints of twenty minutes.

In an inexperienced outfit hit further by the absence of outside backs Ono So’oialo and Ihaka Watene, Liddell’s signing could prove key in the latter half of the year.

Filling in at fullback, Wayne Kennedy had a mixed game but was able to utilise his speed from the scrum base.

Logan Brothers expect skipper Trevor Exton to return from a knee injury in three weeks’ time.

In other results, Wynnum Manly Redland City registered a 56-4 victory over a young Easts Tigers side.

At Southpine Sports, West Brisbane continued their form surge, defeating Gaters 38-10 to leapfrog Carina into seventh place on the ladder.

Ipswich centre Fine Fainga grabbed a hat-trick in the Jets’ 36-14 victory over Valleys, while doubles were the order of the day at Redcliffe with Evander Cummins, Joe Bradley, Hayden Hansen and Tristan Lumley all crossing twice to help the Dolphins to a 54-6 win against Normanby.
