The undisputed Queens of the BMD Premiership – the Brisbane Tigers – will return for 2026 to defend their crown with round one being fought on Saturday against the Norths Devils.
The last time the Tigers BMD premiership side tasted the bitter side of defeat was May, 2024 when they lost 20-10 to the Burleigh Bears.
Since then, they’ve won 13 games in a row and racked up points and stopped points like wild big cats.
Tahlia Marshall was scoring a grand final double last time we saw the Tigers with a try just before half time and a try just after half time to seal the famous win.
The Tigers will be looking to superstar lock forward India Seeto, who scored the first try for the Tigers in the grand final. Seeto will be front and centre again for the Tigers.
The Tigers will want to start the season to send a loud and clear message to the rest of the BMD premiership that the 2026 version is a continuation of 2025.
The Devils made week one of the finals, but it didn’t go to play for the Devils and they tasted defeat 44-6 to close out their season.
The Devils will see round one against the premiers as a good place to start their campaign and a good gauge of where they are at the moment.
Knowing that they will more than likely must meet again if they are going to achieve what they want to achieve in 2026.
Devils’ try scoring machine Courtney Tyrell will be in the action again for the Devils. With 12 tries in 12 games last season, Tyrell’s strike rate can’t be ignored.
It will be front rower Mia Holo denting the line so that Tyrell can take advantage and score those tries.
