With just over four weeks until the Stanthorpe Gremlins host the Sunshine Coast Falcons v Burleigh Bears at Sullivan Oval, club representatives are hopeful that the snow will be gone by then.

The Stanthorpe Gremlins are hosting the live televised match on Channel 9 during the “QRL Country Week” of the Intrust Super Cup on Sunday, August 16.

A major dump of snow occurred in Stanthorpe today, the first major snow event since 1984.

The town is well known for its cold weather, award winning wineries, beautiful national parks, crunchy apples and the mighty Stanthorpe Gremlins. Established in 1974 the club is still the only known sporting club to have the GREMLIN as their club emblem.

The question was asked recently by the Stanthorpe organising committee if the two coastal teams would need ice baths after their encounter.

Planning for this massive weekend is well underway with the club organising a number of events leading up to the main game.

The club is planning numerous activities within the community including school visits and junior footy clinics.

The first major event will commence on Saturday, August 15 with the Stanthorpe Gremlins hosting a Gala Dinner at the local Stanthorpe Civic Centre; which is heated by the way.

The Stanthorpe Gremlins are hoping for a crowd of up to 3000 people on game day and would like to welcome all of the rugby league community in Queensland and NSW to attend this action packed weekend. Monies raised over the weekend will be used towards the second stage of their major Dressing Room Project.
