Intrust Super Cup Round 23 Highlights - PNG Hunters V Wynnum Manly Seagulls at Sir John Guise Stadium, Port Morseby. 2.30pm Sunday August 16, 2015.

Second half comeback secures win for Hunters

The PNG Hunters came back from a 13-6 halftime deficit to defeat the Wynnum Manly Seagulls at Port Moresby’s Sir Guise Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The match did not start well for the highly-fancied Hunters, with a kick bouncing off the crossbar and into the arms of incoming Gulls forward Brendon Gibb to post the first points of the afternoon.

Playing in front of a large crowd who had gathered to support them, the Hunters soon hit back with skipper Israel Eliab once again finding himself on the score sheet with a try to level the match.

However, the visitors were in again when big forward Stephen Coombe crashed over from close range.

A field goal from Matt Seamark put a final flourish on the half for the Gulls.

However, the second half belonged solely to the Hunters who ran in a further five tries to post the convincing victory.

The win keeps the Hunters at the top of the table alongside the Townsville Blackhawks.
