Brothers defeated Goodna Eagles 37-18 in the Ipswich Rugby League Mayor Paul Pisasale A-Grade Cup preliminary final to qualify for the grand final.

Brothers' win means they will face Norths in the grand final for the second consecutive year.

The Raceview club took an early lead against Goodna when Ben Seve scored in the 5th minute, but less than 10-minutes later it was Goodna leading after tries to Jack Tamanmasui and Chris Turner.

The Eagles were playing good football working their way out of their own half and they seemed to have all of the momentum.

When Brothers received a penalty in the 20th minute momentum shifted and William Oloitoa scored to get the Brethren back within four points of the lead.

A fantastic kick-off return earned the Brethren another penalty and Brothers now had the momentum going their way.

A 26th minute try to Josh Leisemann got Brothers back in front 14-12.

Four minutes before halftime Troy Sharpe powered his way over to score a great try extending Brothers' lead to 20-12.

A drop-goal to Josh Leisemann with just seconds remaining in the first half gave Brothers a 21-12 halftime lead.

Brothers' lead was extended to 13-points in the 51st minute when Caine Kaleopa charged his way over to score for the Brethren.

In the 70th minute Brothers' lead was reduced to seven points when Mitchell McNamee scored a try from a kick as Goodna attempted to stage a comeback.

Just five minutes later Brothers' lead was restored to 13-points when Nat Creedy scored a try.

With three minutes of the match remaining Beau Yates showed great effort in support and scored a try which gave Brothers a 37-18 lead.

Brothers will now face Norths Tigers in the Ipswich Rugby League Mayor Paul Pisasale A-Grade Cup Grand Final at North Ipswich Reserve at 3.00pm Sunday September 20.
