The Pittsworth & District Junior Rugby League has called on all interested clubs to take part in the annual Pittsworth Rugby League Nines Tournament being staged next month.

The junior tournament will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2016 and will take place at the Pittsworth Leagues Club Grounds. It is open for teams in the Under 15 and Under 16 age groups.

There are no girls teams this year - but organisers are calling for expressions of interest for the 2017 event.

The organisers of the event are planning to split the entered teams into two pools in a round robin format.

Depending on the number of nominations, it may be necessary to play some games on Friday evening (February 26); however this will be negotiated with participating clubs if necessary.

Finals and presentations are expected to be completed by early evening on Saturday (February 27) by approximately 8pm.

Clubs who nominate teams must be affiliated with the QRL and players must be registered with the Club nominating a team for the 2016 year.

The competition will run in accordance with the National Rugby League Laws of Rugby League Nines (9s). These rules are currently under review by the NRL and will be advised prior to the tournament.

Teams will be required to nominate a maximum of fifteen (15) players prior to the carnival.

The points system will be in accordance with the State Age Rugby League Championships.

There is a prize pool on offer and will be split in each age division with 75% to the winner and 25% to the runner up.

To nominate to take part in this year’s event, complete the nomination form and return via email to gequinn@bigpond.com.

All teams nominating will be required to pay a $150 nomination fee. The fee will cover the costs of referees and other running costs. Payment of the nomination fee will be required prior to February 14, 2016.

Nominations will be restricted to a maximum of ten (10) teams per age group with a draw to be finalised by February 21, 2016.
