The QRL Northern Division is excited to enter into a partnership with a great local company, The Mendi Group, for the current rugby league season.

The partnership will see the cost for junior rugby league players at representative level and for the QRL Spring and Summer Camps be reduced for all participants. Most rugby league competitions and carnivals will be held in the south east corner in the coming years and this partnership between the QRL Northern Division and The Mendi Group will help to keep the cost for the carnivals down which in turn will free up some money to allow parents and supporters to travel down to watch their family members participate in the game of rugby league. Without this partnership this may not be a reality for some especially in these difficult financial times.

The Mendi Group have been great supporters of the community for many years but in recent times they have been terrific supporters across all levels of the game of rugby league and the QRL Northern Division is proud to be associated with a local company that is putting its resources back to the North Queensland community.

This year’s carnival will have 34 teams participating with boys from the Under 13s to Under 16s and girls in the Under 14s and Under 16s and close to 700 participants. This is the first year that Under 14 girls have participated.

This is also the first year that the carnival will provide a pathway for the entire North Queensland region with junior players coming from the Torres Strait Islands for the first time.

Referees and match officials from all over North Queensland will also be attending this great carnival. The carnival has grown so much that some games have had to be moved to Brothers Leagues Club on the Saturday morning.

This is a very exciting time for the game of rugby league in Northern Queensland and the partnership with The Mendi Group will only add to the growth and development of the game at the Grassroots level.
