On his first day in a Maroon uniform, starstruck Under 18 NQ hooker Julian Christian was lining up against his Origin heroes in an opposed training session.

"I can't believe I'm just right here and watching them," Christian said from camp as Cameron Smith and Johnathan Thurston banged over conversion attempts.

The Cairns junior, who plays for the Townsville Blackhawks and is also contracted to the Broncos, said this was the first time he had made a Queensland team.

"I can't wait. I just want to get in there," he said of the curtain-raiser before Origin II at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium on Wendesday night, where he will play hooker off the bench.
