The Division’s junior girls competition grand finals will be played this Saturday at Hammel Park, Beenleigh JRLFC grounds, after last weekend’s semi-final round at Banyo.
In the under-14s Division Three, Logan Brothers and Norths Ipswich will meet in the season finale after eliminating the Wests Inala and Gold Coast teams. The Division Two decider will be between Redbank (Pink) and Redlands, after Redbank posted an easy win over Beenleigh. Five-eight Christine Okesene scored 34 points for the Redbank girls, and in the other game Redlands held off a determined Redbank (Blue) to win 26 points to 18.
The Division One finals both produced thrilling matches to determine the grand finals teams. Waterford (Green) defeated Banyo 34-14 on the back on some late tries. In the other clash it was again Waterford (Gold) who had to work hard to overcome a determined Aspley outfit, winning by 26 points to 16 with halfback Keisharn Hala scoring a hat-trick of tries. In a great achievement for the club, the Waterford teams will now meet for the grand final trophy.
With the already qualified Norths Ipswich girls watching on, Beenleigh defeated Greenbank 30-22 to earn their spot in the Division Two under 17s grand final decider.
For the Division One finals it was the Pine Central outfit that rose to the challenge, and eliminated Redbank with an easy win. In the other game it was goal kicking that cemented a good win for Waterford 32 points to 22 over a committed Aspley side. Five-eight Alysia Lefau notched a hat-trick for Waterford in the side’s tally of six tries, with Aspley crossing for five tries but only managing one conversion.
